Australian media release video of Sydney hostage suspect

That's the man local media in Australia say is the suspect in an ongoing siege at a Sydney cafe.

The center of the country's largest city is under lockdown by police, as a hostage situation that started mid-morning Monday continued into the night.

This, after an armed man took hostages inside a busy Lindt chocoloate shop and forced them to display an Islamic flag popular among Sunni militants like Islamic State and al Qaeda.

Police say there could be more assailants inside and the New South Wales Police Commissioner says they're treating this as a terrorist event.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW SOUTH WALES POLICE COMMISSIONER ANDREW SCIPIONE SAYING:

"Our only goal tonight and for as long as this takes, is to get those people that are currently caught in that building out of there safely. That remains our number one priority."

At least five hostages were released or escaped since the siege began.
