Senate report details CIA torture techniques

The US Senate Intelligence Committee's five-year investigation into the CIA's, interrogation program following the September 11 attacks details extensive use of waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and inhuman jail conditions. The report says such methods were largely ineffective for gathering intelligence that could prevent other terrorist attacks. Furthermore, secret prisons were maintained in third countries where "enhanced interrogation techniques", a euphemism for torture, were extensively used.
