Hanks, Tomlin and Sting among Kennedy Center Honors recipients

The stars came out in Washington to celebrate the recipients of the 36th Kennedy Center Honors.

Lady Gaga, Usher and Bruce Springsteen were among the performers paying tribute to singers Al Green and Sting.

Other honorees were comedian Lily Tomlin, ballerina Patricia McBride and Oscar-winning actor, Tom Hanks, who was acknowledged by Martin Short.

"Well, I'm not saying I will do it for attention but if I get some, that will just be where the chips fall."

The recipients walked the red carpet and shared their feelings about the award.
