Police union leader says de Blasio threw officers 'under the bus'

New York City Patrolmen's Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch told reporters on Thursday (December 4) that Mayor Bill de Blasio had failed to support police after the decision and told the public that they should fear officers.
"Unequivocally, police officers feel like they have been thrown under the bus," Lynch said.
The grand jury cleared New York Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death of Eric Garner during an arrest attempt in July. The decision was announced just over a week after a Missouri grand jury declined to charge a white policeman who shot and killed unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, touching off rioting, looting and burning in protest.
