Congratulations to Best Health and Wellness Program Finalists, Novartis International AG, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and WellPoint, Inc., for the 2014 Corporate Citizenship Awards!
The Corporate Citizenship Award for Best Health and Wellness Program recognizes efforts to improve the health and wellness of employees or communities. Read on to learn more about the exemplary initiatives the three finalists have undertaken to augment health and wellness, in local communities and around the world.
One of the most prominent challenges faced by developing countries is providing healthcare for burgeoning populations. Novartis’ Familia Nawiri (“Healthy Family” in Swahili) program focuses uses social and commercial components that work together to create a sustainable healthcare system in Kenya. The program trains health educators, educates healthcare providers on treatments, manages the medicine supply chain, and more. Since 2012, approximately 3,415 health education meetings have been organized with nearly 132,000 attendees, and 11 health camps have resulted in 2,060 patients being diagnosed as a result of Familia Nawiri.
