STORY: A day after he outlined his plan to relax U.S. immigration policy and grant relief from deportation to millions of undocumented immigrants, U.S. President Barack Obama rallied support for his new policy in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nevada is home to the highest proportion of undocumented immigrants in the country.

With 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, Obama's plan would let some 4.4 million who are parents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents remain in the country temporarily, without the threat of deportation.

Obama's move, coming little more than two weeks after elections in which Republicans seized the Senate, is certain to provoke a backlash and House of Representatives Republicans are weighing a range of responses.
