"Smoking up” Spain for a Free Catalonia | Focus on Europe

Barcelona is becoming something of a second Amsterdam. The last decade has seen the opening of more and more new private clubs where marihuana can be smoked legally. The government in Madrid now plans to intervene.
The marihuana debate is being seen as another factor in Catalonia’s wish to separate from Spain. A planned referendum on the issue has however been blocked by Spain's Constitutional Court.
