More than 16,000 fans packed Allphones Arena to hear Narendra Modi speak, with another 5,000 watching on big screens outside.
Sydney was on show to hundreds of millions in India as well, as the event streamed live into the country of more than a billion people. Fans wearing brightly colored traditional costumes, or just-purchased Modi T-shirts, danced to drum bands or stopped to get a photo with a cut-out of the man of the moment.
