BMW developed new model structures when it introduced the 4-series. Even numbers are coupes; odd numbers, sedans. Even the sporty M models are being forced to toe the new line. After four generations, the M3 coupe has become the M4 coupe. That made room for a new M3, this time in the shape of a sedan.
