First close look at fatal Virgin Galactic crash site

U.S. Federal officials said on Saturday (November 1) a great deal of evidence may exist to help investigators pinpoint what caused a Virgin Galactic passenger spaceship to crash during a test flight in California, killing one pilot and injuring the other.

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB )arrived at the crash site in the Mohave Desert early on Saturday. While they were unsure if the spacecraft contained a "black box" data recorder, they said the fact that this was a test vehicle means that the flight should have been extensively documented by the team that designed and built the craft. They said there may be video and other data of the flight and its crash that scattered debris over the Mojave Desert, 95 miles (150 km) north of Los Angeles.
