The Disney animated film "Big Hero 6" kicked off the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival on Thursday (October 23). The film - the studio's next big feature after last year's hit, "Frozen," centers on the bond between a 14-year-old boy and an inflatable robot, as they battle a masked villain.

The director of the film, Don Hall, said Tokyo was the perfect spot to debut the film.

SOUNDBITE: Don Hall saying (English)

"It just totally makes sense. The film has just such a strong Japanese influence. I mean it really is a love letter to Japan and so to have it co-incide with the Tokyo Film Festival just felt like the perfect place to debut it."

Animated films will be a highlight of this year's fest, which runs through October 31.
