Football Stories - The Vinager Revolution (2014)

2013 proved to be a restive year for Brazil. As a country that has witnessed incredible growth in the past decade and is a few months shy of hosting world's greatest sports event, the football World Cup, Brazilian major cities were not expected to be the scene of major demonstrations and public anger. What started out as protests against public transport fare hike in bigger cities soon turned into nationwide outcry against governmental corruption, police brutality, overbilling sports projects and social injustice. To soothe their smarting eyes and fight off the effects of tear gas and pepper spray, protesters would arm themselves with bottles of vinegar, hence the media dubbed the demonstrations as the Vinegar Revolution.

This movie chronologies the demonstrations and seeks to see deeper into people's demands and the final results of their mostly peaceful protests.
