Jordi Alba: Real Madrid stadium will not applaud if Messi breaks record

Sant Joan Despí (Spain), 16 Oct (EFE).- Barcelona defender Jordi Alba believes it will be "difficult" for Leo Messi to be applauded at the Santiago Bernabéu if he breaks Telmo Zarra's goalscoring record at Real Madrid's stadium.

Zarra is La Liga's overall leading goalscorer with 251 and Messi is only three goals behind it. "Let's hope he can reach the number quickly. If it were up to me, I could give him a tribute at the Bernabéu if he breaks the record, but I think it would be difficult," the full back said.

When asked if he thinks Luis Suárez should start in the Clásico in ten days time, Alba avoided the issue. "I know that you want to see him at the Bernabéu, but that is a technical question. He holds the Golden Shoe trophy and I am sure he will score many goals with Barcelona but to only name him, Neymar and Leo would be a lack of respect. They are three incredible players but we also have other very good forwards in the team.
