Hong Kong has a second night of clashes

Pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong have clashed with police for a second night in a row – this time it was near government headquarters.
Police used pepper spray to stop the demonstrators from blocking a major road near the office of the territory’s Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying .
On the previous night a video of police officers allegedly beating up a member of the pro-democracy Civic Party caused outrage when it went viral.
Ken Tsang Kinchiu said he will take legal action against the six police officers who are said to have been reassigned to other duties.
However the alleged police brutality appears to have injected a fresh impetus into the three-week long protest calling on Beijing to allow free elections.
China rules Hong Kong under a “one country, two systems” formula that accords the city a degree of autonomy and freedom not enjoyed on mainland China. But Beijing has said only candidates screened by a nominating committee will be able to contest a full city-wide vote to choose the next chief executive in 2017.
