STORY: British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin Clooney, who married actor George Clooney in September, visited the Acropolis museum in Athens on Wednesday (October 15).

Alamuddin Clooney is visiting Athens with renown British-Australian barrister George Robertson, Norman Palmer - a British lawyer specializing in the repatriation of cultural property.

The trio of lawyers are advising the government on possible legal avenues for reclaiming the Parthenon Marbles - also referred to as the Elgin Marbles - from the British Museum in London. Greece first asked for legal advice from the two lawyers in 2011 on the issue.

Athens built a new museum at the site of the Acropolis in 2009 with a special chamber specifically for the Parthenon Marbles, where plastered fakes sit in place of the originals currently in Britain.

Earlier, the lawyers were given a tour of the Acropolis Museum by the President of the Museum Dimitris Pandermali
