British actor Kit Harington attended the world premiere of his new movie 'Testament of Youth' on Tuesday October 14.

He revealed he had to wear a short-haired wig to play a soldier in the film because he isn't allowed to cut his famous curly locks -- they have to be kept for his role as Jon Snow in HBO's Game of Thrones.

SOUNDBITE, Kit Harington, actor (English):

"It was a wig."

(Reporter: Was it a wig really?)

"Yeah, this hair ain't going anywhere until I have finished 'Thrones.'"

"As far as my hair goes I am not allowed to cut it. I am allowed to cut it to an extent but it has to be back to the length it's meant to be for 'Thrones' every year."

Harington plays the real-life character of Ronald Leighton in the film, a soldier and poet who became author Vera Brittain's fiance in the memoir on which the movie is based.
