Singapore gives cyber crime fighting facility to Interpol

Singapore has officially given a state-of-the-art cybercrime fighting centre to international police organisation Interpol

The Interpol Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) will equip the world’s police with tools and knowledge to detect and prevent digital crimes.

“Police are traditionally trained to protect citizens from harm, a harm that is visible, or simply physical in nature. But the widening intersection of real and virtual lives challenges that very tradition, and hence with the Interpol Global Complex for Innovation, IGCI as we call it, Interpol wanted to establish a centre dedicated to fighting cyber crime,” said Ronald K Noblem, Secretary General of Interpol at a handover ceremony.

The ICGI in Singapore is set to open next April.
