Disney enters Myanmar, in sign of further reform

It's one of the most unlikely places to find Mickey and Minnie mouse -- but there it is.

Walt Disney's famous characters coming to life in Myanmar, the Southeast Asian nation that's opening up to the world after decades of military rule.

(SOUNDBITE) (Burmese) 24-YEAR OLD WALT DISNEY FAN, MAY THIRI, SAYING:

"Mickey Mouse cartoon movies are very good and I've loved them since my childhood. This is very great for children for Disney to produce educational cartoon movies later."

Myanmar's been going through reform ever since a civilian government took hold in 2011.

Disney's move here is considered another sign that change is coming to the country.

The company's expected to hold its first performances in the capital Yangon in early October.
