KARACHI (Dunya News)—Preparations for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s rally and sit-in continue to take place on the New MA Jinnah Road opposite Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum in Karachi on Sunday, Dunya News reported.

PTI chairman Imran Khan would address the rally today in the evening. PTI activists have gathered at the New MA Jinnah Road to stage the protest rally against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government. The preparations for the rally are in process. PTI workers told the media that the stage is being set up and it might take a few hours for preparations to complete.

Thousands of Imran’s followers have assembled at the sight of the rally while many still continue to join in. Apart from men, the crowd includes women and children amassed in large numbers. A heavy contingent of 500 policemen has been deployed for security concerns. The PTI protestors are demonstrating full zeal and vigour as they gather for the PTI rally in Karachi.

Awami Muslim League’s Sheikh Rasheed and the leadership of PTI have already arrived in Karachi. However, Imran Khan is due to arrive in the evening. A 20-foot-high stage has been set up for Imran Khan to address his party workers. The preparations will complete by the afternoon.

The ministry of Sindh has directed police to ensure security to participants of the PTI rally. Apart from deploying a heavy police force, a Bomb Disposal Squad team has also been called in. The Sindh government on Friday permitted PTI to hold its public rally in Karachi on Sunday. Imran Khan had announced to stage a sit-in protest in the provincial capital of Sindh as part of his long march in Islamabad against the ruling party.
