Michael Kors' is optimistic for spring

STORY: Michael Kors flirts with the 50's for his spring/summer 2015 collection shown at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York on Wednesday (September 10).

"The idea of optimism really made me think about when was the most optimistic period in recent times. And it was really the 50's. You know, we came out of World War II and world came to life. But I'm an American guy, this is certainly not about Paris couture and poodles and berets and formality. So I really thought about a lot of stylish talented women in the 50's who are American," said Kors counted the choreography of Agnes De Mille and photographer Louise Dahl-Wolfe as inspirations.

The New York born designer's collection was full of iconic pieces including trench and pea coats, full skirts and dark denim.

Before the runway show Kors said they paid a lot of attention to volume.
