Former England striker Michael Owen thinks fans have lost faith in England and that major tournament success is needed to convince people that the national side is "on the right track."

Owen, who scored 40 goals in 89 international appearances, said that while victory over Switzerland in Monday's Euro 2016 qualifier was positive, one result was not enough to turn the tide after this summer's early World Cup exit.

The former Manchester United player also backed Louis Van Gaal to secure Champions League qualification for the Red Devils this season.
