Full moon rises over Jerusalem

STORY: A full "supermoon" shone over Jerusalem on Tuesday night (September 9), illuminating the city's holy sites.

It was the third super moon in a row this summer, with the other two occurring early in July and August.

A "super moon" occurs when the moon is full and at the point of its orbit that brings it closest to the Earth.

When the moon is near the horizon it can appear unnaturally large when seen next to trees, buildings and other bodies.
