Afghan court sentences seven men to death for gang rape

The men, seven of them, are wearing blindfolds as they are led into an Afghanistan courtroom.

They've been convicted of raping and robbing a group of women returning from a wedding.

Within minutes, Judge Saifullah Mujadidi delivers a sentence that stuns the courtroom --- death. All seven men will be put to death.

In a case that has shaken the capital, Kabul, police say the men, dressed in police uniforms and carrying assault rifles, dragged four women from a convoy of cars -- in which they were traveling with their families...

...and then raped them in a field in the middle of the night.

Out on the streets, hundreds of people chant, "death to rapists."

"We basically don't want any compromise on their front because here in Afghanistan it is an Islamic society and if a woman committed this kind of crime then she would be stoned so what we want, without any further delay of thei
