Letterman pays tribute to the late Joan Rivers

Comedian David Letterman called the late Joan Rivers "a real pioneer" and paid tribute to her "guts" on his talk show on Thursday evening (September 4).

Letterman said Rivers, who died on Thursday, had an incredible work ethic and that the force of her comedy was "overpowering."

Rivers was 81.
