SOT, Mother with family at beach (English): "I was reading the iPad in my house about lunch time, and I came across an article saying that there had been 10,000 pounds worth of gold buried here at the beach. So we recruited the family, and here we are."

More than 150 eager fortune-hunters descended upon Folkestone's Outer Harbour beach at low tide Thursday, after it was revealed that German artist Michael Sailstorfer may have hidden 30 24-carat gold bars at the beach worth roughly 10,000 British pounds ($16,590; €12,583). The hidden treasure is a feature of the Folkestone Digs project, part of the town's triennial arts festival.

In order to deter treasure-seekers from resorting to using modern treasure-hunting devices such as metal detectors, a large number of metal washers have also been buried in the sand. Organisers have said that prospectors can keep any gold bars they may find.
