Libya: war planes and explosions reported over Tripoli

Unidentified war planes have been reported flying over the Libyan capital Tripoli. Many residents said explosions could be heard.

Security in the city has worsened after more than a month of violence, despite repeated international appeals for an immediate ceasefire.

Fighting between heavily-armed groups has prompted the United Nations and many Western embassies to evacuate their diplomatic staff .
