Raagam : Shivaranjani, Lord Shiva represents the supreme being who dissolve and recreates in the Hindu Trilogy of Bhrama, Vishnu and shiva who represents creation , preservation and dissolution respectively. This aspects of his cosmic duties i.e. dissolution , has given him an erranous identity as the God of Destruction. This misconception has arisen because people have failed to grasp the true significance of his cosmic role i.e. creation sustains itself by a delicate balance between the opposing forces of good and evil. When this balance is disturbed and sustenance of life becomes unliberated souls will have another opportunity to liberate themselves from bondage with the physical world.

Lingashtakam is a hymn in praise of Lord Shiva, also called Maheswara, Rudra, Pasupati etc. The Linga is asymbol for Shiva, just like Sankha and Chakra are symbolic of Sri Vishnu. Linga is also a symbol of manliness, a male, and it is appropriate since he is the Adi Purusha. In this item, the performer states that he/she bows to the lings of Shiva, with all its qualities.

The item describes the linga as being covered in fragrant sandalwood paste, kumkuma and garland of lotuses, adorned by God and grand precious jewels. The linga is surrounded by the King of snakes(Naga). It is honoured by demi-gods and sages alike is also Brahma, Murari(Krishna) and Indra. While it is the abode of compassion, and is the reason for the rise of wisdom in people , its also a destroyer - it destroys Kamadeva or desire, the pride of the demon Ravana and also Daksha's sacrifice, as also the accumulated of living beings. The linga is utlimately the reason of birth of all living beings. It is beyond everthing and can be considered Paramatman. The item has been choreograohed by Guru smt. Seetha Nagajyothi.
