Dozens gathered to mourn the news of Oscar-winning actor and comedian Robin Williams' death in front of the house where Mrs. Doubtfire was filmed and one of his former residences in Sea Cliff, California on Monday. Mourners laid flowers and cards to pay their respects to the actor whose string of film successes include Aladdin, Dead Poets Society, Hook, Good Morning, Vietnam, Good Will Hunting and Mrs. Doubtfire.
Local authorities confirmed that the body of the 63-year-old was found at his home in Tiburon, California. An autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday, but the Marin County Sheriff's office stated that initial findings indicate cause of death as suicide due to asphyxiation.
According to a statement released by Williams' publicist, Mara Buxbaum, the actor had been recently been "battling severe depression."
