Video shows plight of Yazidi refugees trapped on Mount Sinjar

Misery and despair for the Yazidi people on Sinjar Mountain in Iraq.

Atop the desert mountain, they lack food and water in the sweltering heat.

They've received some aid from the U.S. but still need refuge from the Islamic State.

The militants are threatening to wipe them out completely.

At least 500 of the ethnic Yazidi minority have been killed by the jihadist fighters. Some of the victims were buried alive.

This comes as Iraqi Kurdish President Masoud Barzani meets with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, asking for more weapons for the Kurds.

(SOUNDBITE) (Kurdish followed by English translation) IRAQI KURDISH PRESIDENT, MASOUD BARZANI, SAYING:

"Indeed we are not only fighting a terrorist organization, we are fighting a terrorist state that is equipped with the best weaponry. So the weapons that they have what they possess are more advanced than what the Peshmerga have."
