The Pakistan Awami Tehreek's recent claim of police raid on Minhajul Quran secretariat in Model Town has turned out to be false.
PAT President Raheeq Abbasi claimed on Friday that the Punjab police had chalked out a plan to raid Minhajul Quran Secretariat and arrest Dr Tahirul Qadri.
According to latest reports, a large number of PAT workers, wearing gas masks and wielding sticks, is still present outside the secretariat in Lahore.
Following the address of Abbasi, a special squad for the security of Dr Tahirul Qadri was also formed to avoid the possible detention of the PAT chief.
However, the claim turned out to be wrong when police took no action against the PAT chief and Minhajul Quran secretariat.
At least three policemen have been martyred while dozens of people including PAT workers have been injured during the ongoing clashes between police and Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers.
Heavy contingents of police are still deployed in Model Town as PAT is set to observe Youm-e-Shuhuda today.
