Sun, surf, and sand... this is what brings tourists to Hawaii.

But now, people are soaking up what they can. Two hurricanes are bearing down and are expected to hit the state over the next few days.

Hurricane Iselle is projected to make landfall on Hawaii's Big Island on Thursday with Hurricane Julio just a few days behind.

SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED TOURIST, SAYING:

"You come to Hawaii for the clear skies and beautiful weather so it's always a bit of a shock when you have to sit inside while the storm blows through."

Hotel workers are boarding up and people are scrambling to stock up on food, water, and gas.

Disaster coordinators are keeping a close eye on the two storms.

SOUNDBITE: BARNEY SHEFFIELD, RED CROSS, HAWAII'S DISASTER COORDINATOR, SAYING:

"It rains enough in Hilo that we would probably catch enough water that people would survive but it would be the food situation, there's a limited amount of food on island at any one time."
