Russia: Aeroflot subsidiary grounded by EU sanctions
Russia’s Aeroflot has temporarily halted all flights its low-cost subsidiary Dobrolet due to European sanctions.
The move came less than a week after Dobrolet was named by Brussels as one of the firms that EU entities are prohibited from doing business with.
The hit to Russia’s flagship carrier is the most direct fallout yet of the EU’s punitive measures against Moscow over the Ukraine crisis.
Aeroflot said in a statement that Dobrolet services were being suspended because European counterparties had stopped providing aeronautical information and refused to fulfill agreements in areas such as leasing and maintenance.
Passengers booked onto Dobrolet flights would be transferred or fully refunded, Aeroflot said.
