China factory blast kills more than 60

Panic in eastern China.

Amateur video captures the scene of a deadly factory blast.

At least 68 people are killed and more than 120 injured when an explosion ripped through a workshop.

...One that made wheels for U.S. carmakers, including General Motors.

Survivors are rushed to hospitals, as rescue crews search for more victims at the scene.

A preliminary investigation suggests the blast was triggered by a gas leak.

SOUNDBITE (Chinese) CHEN CHIN-TE, OFFICIAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION BUREAU OF KAOHSIUNG:

"Based on the samples collected by the Environmental Protection Bureau before and after the explosions, the blasts were caused by Propylene leakage. Along the roads at the explosion site, there are propylene pipelines operated by three major chemical plants."

A community is torn apart, with roads completely destroyed and residents displaced.

A doctor warns the eventual death toll could be -- quote -- "very high."
