Pop into the pop up gallery in Lyon

In Lyon, France, a pop up art fan has converted her apartment into fully functioning pop up gallery.

Sylvie Garrigue has spent the last four years working on the project to transform her living quarters into an art quarter.

The space is called Racont’sart, which translated means ‘Tell the art’: “The concept is based on different principles. On one side, merging art genres, painting, sculpture, photography, textile arts, jewellery design. The second principle is about bringing together internationally known artists,” says Sylvie.

The artist Rodrigue Glombard, uses the space to show his work – a series of daily creations he began in 1997.

He likes the informality of the gallery: “There isn’t the sacred atmosphere you find in a gallery or in a common cultural environment.”

The gallery is open by appointment all year round, with two or three major exhibitions a year.

For the young and emerging artists of Lyon, this gallery space has become a point of reference, a place where art lovers and artists can meet and exchange ideas: “We have an easier contact with artists. It’s a magic place. I feel transported into the life of the artist and this gives soul to everything inside the gallery,” said one visitor.”

The gallery also hosts live performances including music, poetry recitals and story-telling.
