Claiming to see in her the complex and vulnerable personality of the eponymous character, Friedmann sets Josephine onto a path of self-discovery. Although the personality of the character she is to play is quite different from her own, Josephine is committed to playing the part to the fullest. As Camille, she discovers her femininity, but heads down a dangerous path; Camille is not only self-conscious and sexually hyperactive, but also fragile and self-destructive. Her immersion into her role as Camille and the direction she receives from an obsessive and unconventional theatre director, lead to a powerful confrontation and self-revelation.
