Though gruesomely executed for her crimes, vampiric witch Asa makes good on her threat to return centuries later to possess her look-alike descendant Katja and exact her revenge. Barbara Steele's debut (in a dual role) as Europe's Queen of Horror is also Mario Bava's premier outing as a director.

[This is the US version, with different dubbing from the UK release (aka "Mask of Satan") and with a different score by Les Baxter, who was also responsible for the music in several of Roger Corman's Poe films.]
