Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the offensive against Gaza -- which began two weeks ago -- will go on as long as necessary.

"Israel did not choose to enter this campaign, but from the moment it was forced on us we will implement it until we achieve its result - restoring quiet for the Israeli people for an extended period while significantly damaging Hamas infrastructures and the rest of the terror organizations in Gaza. We are undeterred. We shall continue the operation as long as is required."

Netanyahu also responded to a question about Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's comparison of Israel to the Nazis.

On Saturday, Erdogan said that Israel had "surpassed Hitler in barbarism through its attacks on the Palestinian territory."

Netanyahu said the remarks had an "anti-Semitic tone".
