Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden (Zero: Nuregarasu no Miko) is a Japanese-style horror game, where you’ll use the Wii U GamePad as the Projection Machine, a camera that is used to seal vindictive spirits. The game takes place at the Hikayama mountain, a place also known as the “mountain of death,” often visited by those who choose the path of death. While past games of the series took place in Japanese mansions, this time around, there will be plenty of open areas, and spiritual places that will test your courage. There's a strong focus on water in the game with a huge lake being a major part of the mountain environment. Koei Tecmo feels that it will bring out a feeling of uneasiness and caution from the players. The “Projection Machine” will have you use the GamePad like a regular camera, to look at the spirits’ positions and movements. It can also be used to check the length and breadth of your surroundings, or even film what’s going on, which Koei Tecmo says it should bring a new sense of fear.
