Ancient town in central China's Hunan Province has been flooded

The famous ancient town of Fenghuang in central China’s Hunan Province has been flooded.
Waters in the nearby Tuojiang River rose by almost one meter above the warning level, causing severe flooding and power outages.
Over 50,000 residents and tourists were evacuated from the town, and several scenic spots were closed.
Other counties in Hunan have also been affected.
No casualties have been reported so far. Experts predicted the stormy weather would continue until the early hours of Wednesday.
The 300-year-old town of Fenghuang is a cultural center for the Miao minority and was the site of the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) ‘Southern Great Wall’, built to protect China from Miao invaders. The town was added in 2008 to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, a list of sites under consideration for World Heritage status.
