The Oval Portrait (1972)

(AKA "One Minute Before Death".) Set after (and, in lengthy flashback, during) the Civil War, this tale of a young woman becoming first entranced by, and ultimately possessed by, the spirit lurking in a painting has but a nodding acquaintance with Edgar Allan Poe, blended with an odd melding of ersatz "Dark Shadows" and a pinch of imitation Hammer.
