Dunya News - Transmission Lines incapacitated yet new energy deals with China

While Secretary Water and Power Nargis Sethi stated before the Standing Committee on July 4, 2014) that the distribution and transmission system lacks the capacity to carry more than 15,000 mega watts of electricity, the government is busy signing new energy deals with the Chinese companies. NArgis Sethi had also stated that load shedding will continue unless we upgrade our distribution system.
Federal Minister of State for Water and Power, Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali, had also admitted the system faults. While talking to media, he had said that the system is being upgraded but it will take some time.
Question arises here that if the transmission systems are outdated then what is the point in signing new deals with India and China? Will this worn out system be able to carry the load of these new projects? What is the point in signing the new deals when the system remains incapacitated? Will the energy, produced by these new projects, continue to be wasted as line losses?
Public opines that all these new projects will be of no help and the menace of load shedding will continue to be a headache for them.
