If you thought detectives could only be portrayed serious with their conspicuous mysteries then well, here's how Vidya Balan changes the whole staid detective phenomena with her recent release, Bobby Jasoos! Yes, yes, yes! Haven't you watched the promos yet? Oh! From different disguises to romance to comedy, Bobby Jasoos promises to offer a full fledged entertainment, moving around a female detective! But wait, has director Samar Shaikh lived up to our anticipations? Let's watch it out!
So firstly, a quick brush up through the film's plot. 'Bobby Jasoos' narrates an aspiring story of Bobby played by Vidya, who desperately wants to become a detective, however her dreams get neglected by everyone, including her family there. But one day, she gets a strange client Aziz Khan, who offers her an interesting case along with a decent professional fee. And it's now, when a series of cases begin, between Bobby and Aziz and what twists beneath them, is what the entire film is all about.
As per the story, the film revolves around some brilliant narration that'll keep you engaged throughout its detective tour! It's simple and doesn't entangle itself in one of those Sherlock Holmes spheres, which is nice! Vidya's different disguises please to excite and the screenplay is just wow! But now, on the flipside, while the first half has some meaningful twists, the second half downs to an extremely poor placing! In the sense, the emotional connect, to the romantic tracks tend to spoil the well baked cake, that fluffs from the first half! But thanks to Vidya the Hero, the film manages to sail through and one can overlook the negatives!
Coming to performances, Vidya charms like always and like I said, she is the Hero of this plot with some commendable versatility put to display! Ali Fazal looks okay whereas others like Supriya Pathak, Kiran Kumar, Tanvi Azmi, Aakash Dahiya, Prasad Barve, Anupriya Goenka and Rajendra Gupta lend good support!
Overall, Bobby Jasoos might not come as one of those perfect score films but yes, if you ask me to rate Vidya, I can give her 10/10! Oh! She'll treat you wow! And only for Vidya, go for it peeps!
On the rating scale, we at Bollywood Uncut give it 3.5 stars on 5!
