Actor-director Ben Falcone teams up with his wife Melissa McCarthy in the comedy ‘Tammy’.

McCarthy, who co-wrote the script with Falcone, plays a woman who loses her job and embarks on a road trip with her grandmother, played by Susan Sarandon.

Sarandon gushed about McCarthy: “Not only do her films, I think, reflect this inner sweetness but she has a sense of the whole when you’re working with her and she’s just willing to try anything and to be so brave and so smart that she encourages you to bring up your game even a higher notch.”

McCarthy and Falcone have performed together since meeting at the Groundlings, a Los Angeles-based improv troupe.

The husband and wife team are looking to drama for the next project. Melissa McCarthy continued: “Oh yeah, I think we are both really interested in any good story. I just like a good story. Even though I’ve done primarily comedy I really have such an affinity for both. I love anything that tells good story.”

‘Tammy’, which boasts a strong cast including Kathy Bates and Dan Dan Aykroyd, goes on release across Europe, North America and Canada in July.
