Fire Breaks Out @ Bombay Talkies, Old Classics Burnt

Like what? History of Indian Cinema gets burnt to ashes? What are we talking about? Well, a significant slice of Indian cinematic history fell into the abyss of oblivion on 29th of June as the Bombay Talkies warehouse at Mumbai's Borivali, burned down to ashes! Yes! Abhay Kumar, grandson of Bombay Talkies founder Rajnarayan Dube, said a short-circuit, caused the fire around 8.30 that evening and has destroyed almost anything to everything out there! Oh-My-God! Too bad! Barring a few films that were uploaded on the Internet, all prints and negatives were burnt to ashes. In fact, that's not all! The fire also claimed major key documents such as photographs, posters and even some letters by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rabindranath Tagore and Jawaharlal Nehru. Whoa...it's not less than mourning for this great loss of our Indian Cinema! Sigh! Open up your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned for more updates!
