Suicide bomber detonates near bus killing eight in Kabul

Investigators gather evidence at the scene of an attack on a bus in Afghanistan.

The vehicle was carrying military personnel in the capital, Kabul, when a suicide bomber hit, killing eight and wounding thirteen.

(SOUNDBITE) (Dari) ABDUL KABIR, EYEWITNESS AND RESIDENT OF THE AREA SAYING:

"While I was walking on this road suddenly I heard a huge explosion, after that I saw smoke and dust covering the area, I rushed to see what happened when I reached the area there were seven to eight people martyred and wounded, we took all of them into a car and sent them hospital."

The violence comes amid heightened political tensions over the disputed second round of the presidential elections.

The results were to have been released on Wednesday, but they are likely to be delayed as allegations of vote rigging are investigated.
