Barcelona, Jul 1 (EFE).- Brand new FC Barcelona player Ivan Rakitic will wear number four on his jersey, according to the contract that links him with the club for the next five seasons. The Croatian will wear the same number former Barça player Cesc Fábregas wore for three years.
Rakitic arrived in Barcelona on Monday to go through a medical check-up early Tuesday morning at Joan Gamper sports center, where the physicians checked his physical condition.
Later on, the player went to Camp Nou along with his agents to sign the contract. FC Barcelona's president Josep María Bartomeu attended the act, in which he gave Rakitic his new jersey.
The Croatian posed with his wife, Raquel Mauri, and their daughter before wearing his uniform for the first time. Rakitic's last official act on his first day as a Barça player will be a press conference in which he will be officially presented.
