Heartless retrace l’histoire de la relation insolite entre un frère et une sœur, Sébastien et Sophie. Ils partagent un secret trouble et dangereux : pour rester en vie, ils doivent aspirer la vie des personnes dont ils croisent le chemin. Ils ne peuvent pas toujours contrôler cette faim et s’ils aspirent trop longtemps, leurvictime s’enflamme et meurt.
Sébastien culpabilise et souffre de cette condition, qu’il vit comme une malédiction. Alors même que Sophie s’en accommode avec un certain cynisme. Afin de trouver une réponse sur leurs origines et leur passé, Sophie et Sébastien sont amenés à résider dans une école à Ottmannsgård – et soudain ils se retrouvent à jongler entre leurs vies d’adolescents et leur instinct de survie.
Heartless is a story about the unusual sibling couple of Sebastian and Sofie. They have a dark, murky and fatal secret: in order to stay alive they are forced to suck life force from people around them. They can’t always control their hunger and if they suck for too long, the victim bursts into flames.
Sebastian bears the heavy burden of a guilty conscience because of the secret’s costs and consequences, whereas Sofie, on the other hand, is outgoing and somewhat cynical. In order to find an answer about their family and past, Sofie and Sebastian are pointed in the direction of Ottmannsgård – and suddenly they find themselves juggling between everyday teen life and their instinct desire.
