US actor and director Zach Braff is back with a new comedy – ‘Wish I Was Here’.

The film tells the story of Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor, father, and husband trying to find meaning in life.

Braff used a crowdsourcing site to finance the movie.

Speaking at the film’s Los Angeles premiere, Braff said: “The idea was if I put in my own money and then I went to the fans and said ‘Hey, I can’t give you a financial stake in the film. That’s illegal still. But if I sell you something you would like, early release of the soundtrack, a T-shirt, a ticket to this premiere, a ticket to a Q & A in your city – anything and everything you could think of, I’ll do it. And if we sell all those things we could probably get to our budget.’ And that’s what we did. The goal was to get to two million in a month and we hit it in 48 hours.”

American actress and model Ashley Greene also stars in the movie.

Best known for the film adaptations of the ‘Twilight’ novels, Greene explained her role this time was very different.

“Total different ends of the spectrum, which was fun. It was really fun to experience it. I think seeing it in a different way because you know with ‘Twilight’ we are so used to kind of being ushered in and there is always people and fans and that experience. So it was really cool to get to actually dress-up and kind of experience what you know what everyone who goes to Comic-Con experiences,” she said.

Braff first enjoyed success with his debut comedy ‘Garden State’. Now open in the US ‘Wish I Was Here’ will be released to Europe later this year.
