Queen Receives Warm Welcome at Belfast Market

Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, visited Belfast’s St Georges’s Market on June 24. The visit to the Victorian market was part of a three-day visit to Northern Ireland.
The market, which is usually only open Friday to Sunday, had a special opening as part of the ‘Best of Belfast’ celebration, showcasing local produce, speciality foods, clothes, arts and crafts.The Queen’s itinerary has also included meetings with Northern Ireland’s first and deputy first ministers, Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness, as well as a visit to the set of television show Game of Thrones.
