Car bomb in Syria's Hama province kills 34 - state news

A huge crater marks where the car bomb exploded killing dozens of Syrians.
Residents surveyed the damage in shock, tending to more than 50 people wounded in this attack in Hurra -- a government controlled village in Hama province.
The state news agency blamed the bombing on rebels fighting to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.
. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) UNIDENTIFIED MAN, SAYING:
"We told them that terrorism will not scare us, even if they killed innocent children with their explosions. We will go fight them and destroy their terrorism."
Syria's conflict began in March 2011 as peaceful protests but has turned into civil war, pitting government forces against rebel factions.
At least 160,000 people have been killed in violence like this, while two and a half million have fled.
